Opening Homeschool Op

Privacy Policy

Homeschool Op is built for families, which means privacy has to be part of the product itself. This policy explains what information Homeschool Op LLC handles, why we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.

Who operates Homeschool Op and what this policy covers

Homeschool Op is operated by Homeschool Op LLC, an Arizona limited liability company. In this policy, "Homeschool Op," "we," "us," and "our" refer to Homeschool Op LLC.

This Privacy Policy applies to Homeschool Op websites, waitlists, onboarding, the Homeschool Op application, Student Mode, support, communications, and related services that link to this policy.

Homeschool Op is designed around a parent- or guardian-managed household. Parents and guardians decide what family and student information to add and which supported family experiences to enable.

Information we may collect

Account and contact information may include a parent or guardian name, email address, authentication information, support messages, communication preferences, and account settings.

Family and homeschool information may include student names or nicknames, ages or grade levels, school-year details, state or jurisdiction, family rhythm, curriculum and other Learning Sources, plans, completed learning, progress, attendance, learning time, records, books, resources, notes, and related homeschool information that you choose to store.

Files and media may include curriculum scans, PDFs, images, photos, learning evidence, portfolio materials, or other files you choose to upload or capture for supported features.

When a parent enables Student Mode or another student-facing experience, a student may interact with work assigned inside the parent-managed household. Those interactions can include task status, evidence, help requests, notes, submissions, or other supported learning activity.

When you use Op or another AI-assisted feature, we may process the prompt, the information you intentionally provide, and relevant homeschool context needed to return the requested assistance or prepare an action for your review.

Technical and usage information may include device and browser information, IP address, authentication and security events, pages or features used, referral or campaign information, performance data, and error diagnostics.

Payment card details are processed by our payment provider rather than stored as full card numbers by Homeschool Op. We may receive subscription status, billing cadence, transaction identifiers, payment status, and related billing information needed to manage your account.

Where information comes from

Most information comes directly from you when you create an account, configure your household, add learning information, upload materials, contact us, join a waitlist, or use the service.

We may also receive limited information from service providers that help us operate Homeschool Op, such as authentication, payment, email, analytics, hosting, storage, and support providers. When you intentionally connect or use a third-party service, we may receive the information needed to provide that connection or complete the requested workflow.

How we use information

We use information to provide, personalize, maintain, and secure Homeschool Op; keep planning, learning, records, and household context connected; operate account and billing features; provide support; send service and account communications; prevent abuse and fraud; troubleshoot problems; understand product performance; and improve the service.

We may use aggregated or de-identified information to understand product performance and usage patterns, evaluate features, and improve reliability. We do not use family or student information as advertising inventory.

We do not use personal information for purposes that are materially different from those described here without providing notice or obtaining consent when required by applicable law.

Children and student information

Homeschool Op consumer accounts are intended to be created and managed by parents, guardians, or other authorized adults, not independently by children. A parent or guardian may choose to let a student use supported student-facing experiences inside the household account.

Student access remains subordinate to the parent-managed household. Parents and guardians control whether Student Mode is enabled and retain authority over household settings, billing, official records, attendance, grades, and other parent-authority functions.

We design student-facing experiences to collect only information reasonably needed for the learning experience and to keep that information tied to the parent-managed household. We do not knowingly use children's personal information for third-party behavioral advertising or share it with advertisers.

If a Homeschool Op feature collects personal information directly from a child under 13 in circumstances where the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act or another applicable law requires parent-facing notice or verifiable parental consent, Homeschool Op will use the parent-managed account and appropriate product controls to obtain the authorization required for that feature before the covered collection, or we will not enable that collection.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through Homeschool Op without appropriate parent or guardian authorization, contact us so we can investigate, restrict the information if appropriate, and respond to a valid deletion or access request.

AI-assisted features

AI is an assistance layer inside Homeschool Op, not an independent decision-maker. Some AI-assisted features may send the information reasonably needed for a request to service providers that process that information on our behalf so the feature can work.

Meaningful plan and record changes remain subject to the product's parent-control rules. AI-generated or AI-assisted information can be incomplete or incorrect and should be reviewed before you rely on it, especially for legal, compliance, academic, medical, safety, or financial decisions.

We do not represent AI output as a substitute for a parent, official source, attorney, physician, financial professional, or other qualified professional.

Service providers and disclosures

We use service providers to operate infrastructure, authentication, communications, analytics, payments, support, storage, security, and AI-assisted features. We disclose information to those providers only as reasonably necessary for the services they perform for us and subject to the applicable contractual, technical, and organizational controls.

Our public Service Providers page identifies important categories and providers used to operate Homeschool Op. That list may change as our infrastructure changes.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process, protect the rights or safety of users or Homeschool Op, investigate abuse or fraud, enforce our agreements, or protect the security and integrity of the service.

If Homeschool Op is involved in a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction subject to applicable law and the privacy commitments that continue to apply.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information to third parties for money.

We do not share children's information with advertisers.

We do not use family or student information for third-party behavioral advertising.

We do not require a child to create an independent paid consumer account to use parent-enabled Student Mode.

We do not promise that AI or state guidance replaces the judgment of a parent, official source, attorney, or other qualified professional.

Cookies, analytics, and product telemetry

Homeschool Op uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication, session management, security, preferences, attribution, and product analytics. We use product telemetry to understand whether features work, where users encounter friction, and whether the service is reliable.

We design analytics to avoid unnecessary family and student content. We do not use the Homeschool Op family experience for third-party behavioral advertising.

Communications

We may send transactional or service communications such as authentication messages, account notices, purchase or subscription information, security notices, support responses, and important product changes. These messages are necessary to operate the service and may not include an unsubscribe option when they are not marketing.

Optional marketing messages can be unsubscribed from using the unsubscribe method provided in the message. Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent necessary account, security, billing, or service communications.

Retention and deletion

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain legitimate business and security records, meet legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, and enforce agreements. Different categories of information may have different retention periods.

You can request access, correction, or deletion of personal information by contacting us. We may need to verify the requester and the relevant household before fulfilling a request. Some information may need to be retained where required by law, needed for security or fraud prevention, necessary to document transactions, or permitted by applicable law.

Because homeschool records can matter to families after the school year ends, parents should export or retain copies of records they want to keep before closing an account or deleting information.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted connections, secure authentication, role- and household-based access controls, backend data protections, restricted privileged operations, and monitoring designed to reduce unauthorized access.

No online service can promise absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident that requires notice under applicable law, we will provide legally required notice.

Security researchers can report a suspected vulnerability using the contact information in our published security.txt file or by contacting us directly. We ask researchers not to access, alter, or disclose family data beyond what is necessary to demonstrate a good-faith issue.

Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights relating to access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, or appeal. We will respond to valid requests as required by applicable law and may ask for information needed to verify your identity or authority over a household.

Parents can manage household and student information through the product where controls are available or contact us for help. A parent or guardian may also ask us to review, correct, or delete information associated with a student where applicable.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right that applicable law gives you.

United States operation and data processing

Homeschool Op is operated from the United States and is presently designed primarily for U.S. homeschool families. Our service providers may process information from locations where they operate, subject to the protections applicable to our relationship with them and applicable law.

If you use Homeschool Op from outside the United States, you understand that information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Homeschool Op, our providers, or applicable requirements change. If a change is material, we will provide notice appropriate to the change, such as through the service, on the website, or by email. The date at the top of this page shows the latest revision.
